Masks have become part of the “new normal” – at least for now. With a little care you can minimize their irritating effect on your skin and wear them successfully with makeup.
Choosing a Mask
Your nose, mouth and chin may be sensitive to friction and chafed by certain types of fabric. To complicate matters, masks hold onto sebum, saliva and sweat. (yuck! 😝) It helps to choose a mask made of smooth textured material, like cotton, in a style that sits away from your face. Masks with a center seam offer extra space between the fabric and your skin – which can make all the difference.
Care for Your Mask
Wash your mask after each use with gentle soap and dry it in the dryer or Sunshine. Store your fresh mask in a bag to keep it clean for it’s next tour of duty.
Protect your Skin
Use nourishing products to create a protective barrier between your face and your mask. Our go to these days is Gentle Illuminating Primer which is equal parts skincare and makeup. It hydrates and protects your skin with Organic Prickly Pear, Camellia + Elderberry. Plus it gives your skin a naturally soft finish that looks great alone or under foundation. Combine Gentle Illuminating Primer with a gentle swipe of Perfecting Powder.
All about Eyes
Now is the perfect time to focus on fun and creative eye looks. We’re loving laid-back/easy going smoky eyes with our masks. Try our Archetype and Hypnotic Eyeshadow Quads for relaxed browns & plums.
If you are feeling bold go for a graphic liner look by applying eye shadow wet. Try LAPIS (deep navy) from our Intention Quad or METEORITE (cool gunmetal) & DRAGONFLY (rich green) from our Labyrinth Quad.
Or keep it fresh and to the point with simple curled lashes topped with several coats of Mesmerize Mascara.
Textures & Finishes
The textures that you choose to apply under your mask will also dictate your makeup’s longevity. Opt for powder blush & bronzer formulas. Or set cream formulas with powder to lock color in place.
Pick a lightweight & hydrating product for the lips for an extra layer of protection. Choose Lux Organic Lip Conditioner for un-tinted nourishment, or select one of our six Lip Nectar shades for a sheer wash of calming color.
Nicole wears: Matte Smoothing Primer, Soft Focus Foundation in 112s, Perfecting Powder, High Voltage Lipstick in Bare (on eyes), Archetype Quad, Mesmerize Mascara in Jet, Blush Powder in Obsess, Lip Nectar in Desire.
