Opposites Attract: Matte meets Gloss

Experiment with texture and contrast. Here we play with smooth matte skin and an unexpected glistening lid. The result is a powerful statement that proves opposites attract.

Using products in an unconventional way achieves this glossy eye: Draw Eye Definer in SMOULDER onto the back of your hand. Pick up with All Over Shadow Brush and apply to the surface of the mobile lid. Trace SMOULDER along the bottom lashline and blend it out with Crease Brush.

Press CLOVE from the Archetype Palette onto the lid with All Over Shadow Brush. Keep Shadow the darkest on the mobile lid and slowly fade out. Diffuse edges by blending GINGER into the crease with our All Over Shadow Brush and lower lashline with our Crease Brush.

Now for Mesmerize Mascara in JET. Start at the root and wiggle the wand back and forth before pulling the product through your lashes from root to tip.

Amp it up by patting a liberal amount of Elixir Gloss in LUCID onto the center of eyelids with your fingertip. Gently tap the edges to blend. Keep gloss away from the roots of the lashes.

Use Brow Definer in either DUSK or STORM to fill in your brow.

The magic is in the contrast between that glossy lid with perfected matte skin. Use Matte Smoothing Primer and Velvet Glow Foundation to balance the eyes.

Emphasize the matte finish with Perfecting Powder. Use our Powder Brush in a pressing and rolling motion. Start at the center of the face and work your way outwards.

Mix High Voltage Lipstick in CHERE with a small amount of Luminous Foundation in your shade. Dab it lightly onto lips, diffusing the edges for a muted matte effect.

An inspiring look. I’ve been a fan for quite some time and it’s great to see Vapour do a matte product. Nice diversion from the luminous looks. I will give this primer a try!
